If you’ve ever spent any time on this site getting lost in my scintillating rubbish (honestly, you should get yourself a life) you may recall that I’m quite partial to a bit of cave exploration. As in, somebody else has done all the hard work of:
Buchan Caves Reserve in East Gippsland is just one system of hundreds of caves (allegedly) in this neck of the woods that are chocka block full of incredible limestone formations. Royal Cave and Fairy Cave are both open to the public via tours, and there’s a bunch of walks to be done in the immediate area. There’s accommodation and picnic areas, a kiosk and even an underground breeding habitat for platypus. You’re never gonna see that though so don’t even bother looking for it. Very secretive, the platypus folk. Might be a cult. Anyway, you may now enjoy this small sample of my poor substitute for our visual experience.
