Beechworth, Beechworth, Beechworth. It's only a model. Another wander in Melbourne city led me to the Chinese Museum where I lost track of several hours. These delicate Shaanxi shadow puppets are as colourful as everything else in the museum even though only the silhouettes are seen during the shadow play.
Winter is back, complete with cold days and stormy skies. At least the street art adds some colour and Melbourne has its fair share of street art in the form of sculptures, installations and spray paint art in various laneways.
Once ridiculed and nicknamed “the cheesestick”, Denton Corker Marshall’s urban architecture “Gateway” seems to have stood the test of time. Melburnians have accepted the bright yellow beam that cantilevers over part of the Tulla freeway. It’s like a sentinel that welcomes one home. I read somewhere that when Fender Katsalidis were designing the apartments now behind the red sticks, they conferred with DCM and decided on using blues to complete the primary colour scheme.
