Marlay Park, Dublin
I decided to hijack my Big Sister's overseas holiday and meet her in Dublin for some fun and games. We stayed near Marlay Park in Dublin's south side with my fab mother-in-law (yes, I actually like her!) and got up to all sorts of no good.
The park is huge – it has cricket grounds, GAA and soccer pitches, tennis courts, walking/cycling tracks, a playground, woodlands, waterfalls, creeks and streams, a café, sculptured gardens and a mini train. Farmers’ markets appear some weekends and there’s a thriving artist colony plus it’s a popular venue for music festivals. And it’s close enough to our Dublin base that we can listen to concerts during the summer evenings whilst having a vino or three.
