But wait…. there’s more!
The bride and groom are led to his parent’s house where family and friends are waiting to welcome them home.
They cross the threshold together, the bride diligently kicking over a metal container of rice (ye old fertility symbolism right there!) with her right foot, whilst an Aarti flame is passed between the groom and his parents.
Per tradition, Balders enters the house right leg first, flinging rice around the floor (it’s a good thing she doesn’t have to clean up) and is warmly welcomed to the home and family.
Throughout the evening various offerings are made, a 'first meal' is cooked and served, games are played and prayers said before the day finally comes to a close shortly before midnight.
